Description
Smith and Wesson Model 681 in excellent condition. No dash model, so this is an early gun, likely from 1980-1981. Configured, as most of these are, with a heavy 4" barrel, full lug on the ejector rod, and small grips. Does not show the "M" mark for the cylinder-binding modificiation - if one wishes, Smith and Wesson will still perform this fix for free. Crane is marked "E10," likely a rack number; most of these 681s were police guns and will show unit numbers or abbreviations on the frame, so this one is exceptionally clean for only having markings under the crane. Condition is excellent, with no major scratches. Original S&W medallion grips are fitted and are in great shape. These 681s were often looked down upon for their "cheapo" fixed sights when compared to the 686s, but make no mistake - these are absolutely rock solid pistols capable of handling full-house .357 for hours on end and are some of the finest fighting revolvers ever made. If you're looking for a wheel gun for the range and protection, there may not be a finer choice than this.
